McLaren opens the door to employment for Brighton youth
McLaren Construction, the key delivery partner for the Edward Street Quarter development, is set to host a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) event on Tuesday 25 February for those considering a career in the construction industry.
The event, due to take place from 12pm at St Peter’s Church in Brighton, is held in partnership with Resurgo’s Spear Programme which aims to support disadvantaged young people into employment.
The afternoon will hold interviews for those looking to gain their CSCS card and Health and Safety Level 1 accreditation, with a view to offering attendees a job opportunity on the Edward Street Quarter site.
Six places on a Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) training course are also on offer, with interviews due to take place on the day and all costs incurred to be covered by McLaren.
Stephen Adams, Operations Director at McLaren, commented:
“This is a unique opportunity, which is free of charge, for those looking to develop the confidence, skills and credentials that they need to succeed in long-term employment within the construction industry.”
Steve Eccles, Project Director at First Base, said:
“The Edward Street Quarter development has created a wide range of employment opportunities and it’s wonderful to know that, by offering these roles to young people in Brighton, McLaren is opening them up to a bright future ahead.”
